Charitable Trust

The Royal Company of Archers Charitable Trust (“RCA CT”)  is the charitable subsidiary of the Royal Company, and was founded in 2017.

In 2006 the Council of the Royal Company took the decision to develop the grounds of Archers’ Hall.  This was undertaken to secure the long term future of the Royal Company and its collections, and  to allow the Royal Company to  play a more active role in broader Scottish life through a properly endowed charitable foundation, engaging with individuals and groups beyond its immediate membership.

​The Royal Company is proud of its distinctly Scottish identity and its role in bringing together many of the country’s most notable artists, scientists, politicians, lawyers, poets, soldiers and adventurers.  Its durability has been a testament to the importance of friendship and the power of sporting endeavour to improve lives.

The charity aims to build on the Royal Company’s core values of sport and fellowship, but also seeks to advance the heritage and culture of Scotland, including that of the armed services.

The core objects of the Trust seek to provide lasting social benefit and rehabilitation for those disadvantaged by disability or ill health through sport

The Charitable purposes are to carry out activities and to award donations and grants in the furtherance of:

  1. The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science;

  2. The advancement of public participation in sport;

  3. The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended; and/or

  4. The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.

The Trustees would welcome applications which fall within the core objects from individuals and community groups throughout Scotland.
